GSC announces 2015 volleyball All-Conference

Birmingham, Ala. — West Florida turned in a conference-high six student-athletes on the 2015 All-GSC Volleyball Team and Valdosta State’s Jessica Codato again earned top player accolades, announced on Monday.
 
West Florida led All-GSC selections with a total of six student-athletes on the 19-member team, including three on the First Team. The six selections marks the most in GSC history. Valdosta State placed second with four-total student-athletes honored, two First Teamers and two on the Second Team. North Alabama rounded out the Top 3 with three honorees, including two on the First Team. Closing out the 2015 squad with one player each were Alabama Huntsville, Christian Brothers, Lee, Shorter, Union and West Alabama.
 
GSC Player of the Year
Valdosta State setter Jessica Codato earned GSC Player of the Year for the second-consecutive year. The São Paulo, Brazil, native totaled 997 total assists, 318 total digs, 210 total points, 149 total kills and 60 total blocks. In 101 sets played, Codato averaged 9.87 assists-per-set, 3.15 digs-per-set, 2.08 points-per-set and 1.48 kills-per-set, all while sporting a .352 hitting percentage. The standout was the only volleyball student-athlete to record a triple-double this season. She closed the regular season with two, a 10-kill, 45-assist, 19-dig performance against Eckerd on 10/16 and 13 kills, 47 assists and 14 digs versus Shorter (10/31).
 
GSC Freshman of the Year
Lee outside hitter Silvia Sartori earned GSC Freshman of the Year accolades after recording 366 total kills, 249 total digs and 42 total blocks. The Belgrade, Serbia, native recorded 10 double-doubles in the regular season. She also averaged 3.80 points-per-set, 3.33 kills-per-set and 2.26 digs-per-set, all in 110 sets played.
 
GSC Coach of the Year
North Alabama head coach Stephanie Radecki was named the GSC Coach of the Year after leading the Lions to a 24-7 record, including a 17-3 conference record. Radecki, in her 12th season at the helm at UNA, guided her squad to a two-seed in the GSC Tournament. The Lions are 11-4 over their last 15 contests, which also includes a seven-match winning streak.
