Crystal Hardy named to the GSC Hall of Fame

6th-of-10 inductees for the 2014 inaugural class




Birmingham, Ala. – Former Delta State women’s basketball player Crystal Hardy is the latest of 10 additions to the 2014 Gulf South Conference Hall of Fame class.

“Crystal was one of the best pure shooters to ever play for the Lady Statesmen and in the Gulf South Conference,” said former Head Women’s Basketball Coach Lloyd Clark. “She shot over 50 percent from the three-point line and could play any position on the court. She was a great leader and the epitome of a student-athlete.”

Career Highlights
  • Played women’s basketball for Delta State from 1988-90 and helped her team compile a 120-10 record over that span.
  • She was a member of the 1989 and 1990 NCAA Division II National Championship teams.
  • Finished her career ninth in school history with 1,570 points, fifth with 675 field goals made, eighth in blocks, with 82, ninth with 197 steals, 10th with 862 rebounds and she tied for fourth with 130 career games played.
  • Earned All-Gulf South Conference Team honors from 1988-90 and earned GSC MVP accolades in 1990.
  • She won the GSC Commissioner’s Trophy in 1990.
  • Also in 1990, she was a Kodak All-American, an NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship honoree, the Most Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year, WBCA Player of the Year and was the Delta State’s Margaret Wade MVP.
  • She was placed on the NCAA Division II All-Final Four Team and was the NCAA Division II Final Four Tournament MVP in 1990.
  • Elected to the Delta State University Sports Hall of Fame in 2010.
  • She is currently eligible for the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame.
