West Florida Wins Third Consecutive GSC Women's Golf Title

Tunica, MS—For the second time in school history, West Florida recorded its third consecutive Gulf South Conference Women’s Golf Tournament Championship on Tuesday at the Tunica National Golf Club in Tunica, MS.
            UWF entered the final 18 holes trailing future member Lee University by one stroke, only to take control in the Final Round by shooting a 313 en route to a combined team total of 619 (+43).   The Argonauts secured their eighth overall GSC crown and posted three in a row for second time history when they hit for four straight from 2006-09. 
            West Georgia surged from third to second-place (+48, 624) on Tuesday, finishing two shots ahead of Lee (+50, 626).  West Alabama celebrated it’s first-ever Tournament by securing fourth-place (+75, 651), while future member Shorter finished fifth (+78, 654).  Future member Union (+124, 700) and Christian Brothers (+361, 937) completed the seven-team field, finishing sixth and seventh, respectively.
            West Florida’s Elin Olsson saved her best for last, shooting a Tournament-high, Final-Round 70 (-2) to rebound from last year’s second-place effort.  Olsson led the All-Tournament Team as the Individual Medalist by finishing in first-place via a +3, 147.  All-Tournament accolades also went to West Georgia freshman Lola Uribe Astolfi (third-place, +5, 149), UWF’s Aimee Paterson (fourth-place, +8, 152), UWG’s Jerrah Baker (seventh-place, +12, 156) and West Alabama’s Jessica Smith (eighth-place, +13, 157). 
            West Florida is eyeing an At-Large berth in the NCAA Division II Regional Tournament after enter the weekend ranked No. 7 in the South Region.
