All-GSC women's soccer honors announced

Birmingham, Ala. — North Alabama, the top seed for the Gulf South Conference Tournament, led the charge with nine All-GSC women’s soccer selections on Monday.
North Alabama had nine make the 38-member team, including a league-high six on the second team.
Valdosta State,
West Alabama and
West Florida all saw five student-athletes each garner accolades, while
Alabama Huntsville,
Christian Brothers,
Shorter and
West Georgia all had three each.
Union completed the list of honorees with two making the team.
North Alabama’s Richards dubbed top player
North Alabama forward
Chloe Richards turned in an astounding season as she was named the
Player of the Year. Richards closed the regular season with an NCAA Division II-leading 57 points and 26 goals. She also registered five assists. The Cornwall, England, native, topped the nation in total points, total goals, points-per-game (3.79) and goals-per-game (1.786). Her seven game-winning goals on the year were good for second in the nation as well.
Alabama Huntsville's Alexcia Alexander selected top freshman
Alabama Huntsville forward
Alexcia Alexander turned in a great inaugural season for UAH and was chosen as the
Freshman of the Year. The Lafayette, La., native, registered 23 points (10 goals and three assists) in 16 games in 2014.
North Alabama's Walker named top coach
North Alabama head coach
Chris Walker earned
Coach of the Year honors after leading UNA to a 13-2-1 finish, that also included a 10-2-0 conference mark. The Lions will enter the GSC Tournament as the No. 1 seed, in just Walker's second season. His defensive unit has allowed just seven goals all season, while his offense currently averages 2.47 goals-per-game.
