GSC announces men's soccer All-Conference honors

Birmingham, Ala. — Christian Brothers and Alabama Huntsville set the tone, placing seven student-athletes each on the 2014 Gulf South Conference men’s soccer all-conference teams on Monday.
Christian Brothers and
Alabama Huntsville both added seven student-athletes each on the 30-member team, while CBU saw a conference-high four make the first team.
Union and
West Florida turned in four honorees each, as both registered three toward the second team, while both
West Alabama and
Shorter had three pull in accolades.
Delta State rounded out the list of honorees placing two student-athletes on the list.

Thibault Charmey was once again chosen as the
Player of the Year as he has now achieved the honor in consecutive seasons. Last year he posted 27 points (10 goals and seven assists), while this season he led the GSC with 29 points (12 goals and five assists). The Paris, France, native, averaged 1.86 points-per-game this season and also ranked inside the Top 20 in all of NCAA Division II in goals-per-game (0.79) and total goals and was Top 25 in total points.
Shorter's Dennis selected top freshman

Charlie Dennis, a native of Brighton, England, enjoyed a productive inaugural season for the Hawks as he was chosen as the
Freshman of the Year. He notched 17 points (nine assists and four goals) this season and garnered Freshman of the Week honors on 10/21. Dennis led the conference and also ranked inside the Top 30 in the nation in total assists.
Christian Brothers' Browne named top coach of the season

Clint Browne was named the GSC
Coach of the Year after leading the Bucs to a top-seed ranking for the GSC Tournament this year. Since taking over in 2004, Browne, an alumnus of the University of Memphis (1995), has led CBU to at least the semifinals of the GSC Tournament, every season. This year, his team claimed the GSC regular season championship at 8-1-0, including an overall record of, 14-2.
