No. 3 seed and Co-GSC Champion North Alabama hits the road for the fourth time in six weeks when it travels to No. 2 seed UNC-Pembroke in one of two Super Region 2 Second Round NCAA Playoff clashes.
The contest pits a NCAA Playoff veteran against UNCP, which earned just its second post-season bid, first since 2009.  UNA secured its record-tying 18th all-time NCAA appearance this year, and plays its 45th overall post-season game while building a 30-14 record.  Overall, the Lions are a three-time NCAA Champion after claiming three straight crowns from 1993-95 and they have advanced to the Finals four times and the Semi-Finals nine times,  The Braves seek their first-ever Playoff win after falling to former GSC member Arkansas Tech in the 2009 First Round, 41-13.
North Alabama is 4-1 away from home this season with its lone loss coming at Division I-FCS Jacksonville State in double-overtime, 24-21.  UNC-Pembroke is a perfect 4-0 inside Grace P. Johnson Stadium this year and has scored at least 60 points in its final two home outings.  UNCP plays its second GSC foe of 2013 after winning at Valdosta State in front of a GSC-TV audience on November 7, 34-29.

GSC IN NCAA DIVISION II PLAYOFFS
A total of 20 different football-playing schools have belonged to the GSC at some point since 1973 and 12 of those have earned at least one Playoff bid.  The GSC has compiled 101 wins during that span along with a .631 winning percentage (101-59).  In fact, of the last 25 national champions, 11* have come from the GSC, seven from the former North Central Conference, four from the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association and three from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.  The GSC holds the playoff record for different schools to win the championship game (6), championship game appearances (17) and different schools to appear in the championship game (6).  *--Mississippi College’s 1989 national championship was vacated for NCAA infractions.
