West Florida men's soccer team claims 2013 GSC Crown

Pensacola, Fla. – West Florida claimed the 2013 Men’s Gulf South Conference Championship on Sunday at Brosnaham Park.
The No. 4 West Alabama and No. 1 West Florida men’s soccer teams battled for the championship on Sunday.
Evan Beutler wasted no time in getting West Alabama on the scoreboard after he scored in the 1
st minute of play, but West Florida answered back when Zack Reynolds converted a penalty kick in the 19
th minute.
Fernando Silveira got the scoring started in the second half when he bended in his free kick attempt to give UWF the 2-1 lead in the 55
th minute.
UWA had an opportunity to tie when in the 69
th minute, Thibault Charmey could not convert a penalty kick, which was set aside by UWF goalkeeper Frederik Bruhn.
After a hard-fought second half, UWF closed out the tournament with a 2-1 win over UWA.
For West Florida, this is its ninth GSC Soccer Tournament Title and first since 2010.
