(2-1) used a pair of scoring streaks to pull away from Angelo State (1-2) en route to a 43-10 victory as part of the Lone Star Festival at Cowboys Stadium.

The teams each settled for field goals on their first respective scoring drives.  ASU drove inside VSU’s 10-yard line, but the Rams were held to three points at 9:05 in the first quarter.  The Blazers returned the favor and had three chances at Angelo State’s one-yard line, only to settle for Daniel Andersen’s 18-yard field goal at 12:44 in the second frame.

Valdosta State’s offense did not let up, posting two straight touchdown drives.  Running back Austin Scott made the score 10-3 at 10:01 via a career-long, 62-yard scoring run, while wide receiver Gerald Ford followed at 4:08 by collecting a 24-yard TD pass.  The score remained, 17-3, heading in to halftime.

The Rams snapped VSU’s 17- point score streak, pulling with seven points after a touchdown pass at 10:44 in the third stanza.  The Blazers ran away from ASU the rest of the way, tallying 26 straight points. 

Andersen booted a 33-yard field goal at 6:10 in the third stanza and Valdosta State’s defense added a safety just eight seconds later.  Ford closed the quarter via a 26-yard TD grab at 3:12, resulting in a 29-10 advantage.  Running back Cedric O’Neal pounded home a one-yard score with 10:34 left to play and Chris Anderson hauled-in a 16-yard scoring pass at 5:27.

Scott rushed for a game-high 126 yards on 17 carries, while Ford led all receivers with seven catches for 110 yards and two TDs.  Quarterback Cayden Cochran completed 16-of-28 passes for 173 yards and two scores.  VSU remained perfect versus LSC foes all-time, 3-0, and the GSC posted its second straight win in the Lone Star Football Festival.
