West Alabama and North Alabama Face Off in Tonight's GSC-TV Finale

West Alabama hosts its third GSC telecast of the year when in-state league rival North Alabama enters Tiger Stadium on Thursday night. 

The game will be shown live by CSS, Mediacom, TV-24, ESPN3 and CoxSports and also on a tape-delay basis by the Alabama Cable Network (Nov. 10 at 7:00 pm).  A UWA victory sews up the Tiger’s first-ever outright GSC Title and is also important for their NCAA Playoff aspirations.

                The GSC closes the curtain on its 2012 Game of the Week schedule in grand fashion on Thursday night by featuring one of the league’s best rivalries between North Alabama and West Alabama at Tiger Stadium in Livingston, AL.
                The rival’s battle in front of a GSC-TV audience for the second year in a row after West Alabama claimed a 31-26 home triumph in 2011.  UWA is 9-9 all-time in GSC-TV play, while UNA is 7-8 after dropping its last four televised contests. 
                North Alabama leads the all-time series, 48-16-1, after going 1-1 against UWA last year.  The Tigers took a 31-26 home win during the regular season, but the Lions earned revenge in Livingston during the First Round of the 2011 NCAA Playoffs, 48-16-1.  The foes have traded victories in their last five matchups dating back to 2008 and UNA is 18-10-1 all-time Livingston.
                Statistical Standouts:  UWA leads the GSC in scoring defense (16.9), total defense (255.4), rushing offense (225.9), rushing defense (133.0), pass defense (122.4) and pass efficiency defense (81.1).  North Alabama ranks second in the GSC in scoring defense (18.9) and pass defense (196.6).  Tarleton State places second in the LSC in rushing defense (128.9) and pass offense (259.0). 
                UWA quarterback Kyle Caldwell places third in the league in passing (135.6), total offense (146.0) and pass efficiency (149.0).  Back-up signal caller Gary Johnston ranks sixth in rushing (51.5), while running back Danny Hobbs is eighth (51.5).  Ryne Smith currently holds the NCAA record for consecutive field goals made (24) and he is also No. 2 in the nation in field goals (1.60). UNA freshman running back Lamonte Thompson ranks third in rushing (75.7), while freshman quarterback Luke Wingo is fourth in total offense (116.2), fifth in passing (90.2) and sixth in pass efficiency (123.2).
