No. 14 Valdosta State and in-region South Atlantic Conference (SAC) foe Newberry lock horns in Game Two of the GSC-TV Game of the Week schedule.
The teams battle for the fourth time, but the Blazers seek to accomplish something that has eluded each school in the series history: win at home. They play for the fourth consecutive season with Thursday night’s game marking the second meeting in Valdosta. NC earned a 31-24 upset over the then No. 12 Blazers, thanks to 21 second-half points. The loss also marks Valdosta State’s last non-conference, regular season setback as the Blazers have reeled off four in a row since. VSU cruised to a 45-17 road victory a year ago and also won 14-9 on the road in 2008. Valdosta State has won three in a row over South Atlantic Conference opponents, led by last week’s 34-28 double-overtime victory over Wingate.
