GSC Champion UNA Falls In NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament

WINTER PARK, Fla. -- The University of North Alabama and Tampa battled on equal terms for 108 minutes before the Spartans netted a goal to claim a double-overtime 1-0 win over the Lions in the opening round of the 2011 NCAA Women's Soccer South Regional.
In a defensive battle that saw just a combined 16 total shots, UNA and Tampa ended regulation play, and a first overtime tied at 0-0. In the second overtime, Tampa finally scored at the 108:23 mark on a header off a corner kick. Lauren Moore scored the goal and Courtney Peffley assisted.
Both teams recorded four saves in goal and Tampa out-shot UNA nine to six.
North Alabama finishes its season with a 17-4 mark, while Tampa improved to 14-5-2. The Lions have advanced to the NCAA Tournament for three straight years and fell to Tampa in the opening round for a second straight year. Tampa beat UNA 2-1 in overtime in 2010. Box Score
