The Gulf South Conference extends its deepest sympathies to the University of West Georgia community for the loss of men's golf student-athlete Matthew Dyas.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the Dyas' family as they deal with the tragic loss.

The University of West Georgia mourns the loss of Matthew Dyas, who was killed in a vehicle accident near University Stadium on Saturday.  Dyas was a junior finance major from Acworth, who transferred to UWG from Georgia Southern University. He was a member of the UWG men's golf team.

"The entire University of West Georgia community is shocked and saddened at the untimely demise of Matt Dyas, a student, a student-athlete, a friend and classmate to many, and a member of the UWG family," said UWG President Beheruz N. Sethna. "The loss of a young life with so much promise is a tragedy for all of us, and an unimaginable one for his family. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers."
