Valdosta State defensive back Dominique Wheeler (SR, 5-8, 177, Stone Mountain, GA).
Wheeler is the first VSU defender to claim laurels this season after spearheading the Blazers’ defense to a 37-3 home win over Angelo State. The senior had a direct hand in two key turnovers to start the game, beginning with an interception which halted a Rams’ drive at VSU’s 34-yard line. The Stone Mountain, GA native struck again on ASU’s second drive, returning a fumble 86 yards for a touchdown. The return was the second-longest in VSU history.
