Benton had a big week at the plate as she batted .647, slugged 1.765, and had a .667 on base percentage, while driving in 16 runs and scoring 11 more. The senior recorded four multi-hit games as she finished 11-for-16 across six games with a double and six home runs. She was a combined 4-for-4 at the dish with eight RBI and three homers in a mid-week doubleheader with Miles. At the Cougar-Hurricane Classic, Benton hit .538 (7-for-13) and added eight RBI and three home runs to her weekly as Montevallo went 4-0 as it defeated Eckerd, Mars Hill, Converser and Mount Olive.
The Hayden, Ala., native was later became the GSC student-athlete this season to also be recognized as the Division II Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).
