Fontenot was credited with a 7-1 victory on Friday in the series opener at Montevallo. The senior right-hander pitched eight innings, striking out nine batters with zero walks, while surrendering one run on six hits. After allowing the lone Montevallo run in the first, Fontenot kept hitters off-balance allowing just three runners to reach scoring position, with none advancing to the third. He held the Falcons to a team batting of .200 while facing 32 batters en route to improving to 8-0 on the season in 10 starts. This is the fifth this season Fontenot was named GSC Pitcher of the Week, after previously being recognized February 18 and 25 as well as March 11 and 25.
