Nelson averaged a double-double with 18.5 points and 10.0 rebounds across two games to help Valdosta State go unbeaten for the week. The senior started the week with an efficient offensive showing against previously unbeaten Lynn as she scored 13 points on six-of-ten shooting and also grabbed four defensive boards to help propel the Lady Blazers to a 64-57 win. Then, the New Orleans, La. native had a VSU career-high 24 points on 56 percent shooting, 16 rebounds, including four offensive, and a steal to help Valdosta State to a 90-79 win in overtime over Georgia Southwestern. This is Nelson’s first-career GSC Player of the Week award.
