Van Pelt earned his second-career GSC Freshman of the Week award after shooting a 226 10-over par to finish in a tie for 30th at the Citrus Intercollegiate. Van Pelt got off to a strong start as he opened the event with a 69 three-under par first round. He then recorded rounds of 81 nine-over par and 76 four-over par to close out the event. The freshman played a role in helping Montevallo to tie for fifth-place in the overall team competition while also having nine birdies.
