Skerbatis went 2-0 in singles last week while helping Valdosta State to a 2-0 record with wins over No. 24 AUM in GSC action and No. 26 Hawaii Pacific. The sophomore notched a pair of straight-set victories, beginning with AUM’s Agustin Marquez (6-1, 6-2) from court six before downing HPU’s Bruno Johannes (6-2, 7-6 (7-2)) on court five. In doubles, teamed with Boruch Skierkier, he went 2-0, including a 6-2 win over AUM’s Tituoan Le Maout/ Adrian Contreras. This spring, Skerbatis is 8-4 in singles and a combined 16-1 in doubles. This is Skerbatis’s first award of the season and marks the fifth Player of the Week award of season for Valdosta State.
