The rookie first baseman went 8-for-19 at the plate (.421), slugged .947, and logged a .450 OBP, while scoring nine times and driving in nine more. He also had four extra base hits with a double and three home runs. In non-conference play, Smith went 2-for-5 and had a home run and three RBI in a 12-6 win over Lane. He then accounted for nine runs in the Bucs’ 15-3 win over LeMoyne-Owen as had five RBI and scored four times, while going deep twice in a 3-for-4 outing. Smith’s weekly ledger also included a walk, two stolen bases, while tallying 30 putouts.
