Duran made his collegiate debut with an impressive opening week at the ITA Division II National Men’s Team Indoor Championship. At No. 5 singles, the rookie went 3-0 against stiff competition. This included wins over Saint Leo's Luis Iriarte (6-3, 4-6, 6-4), Valdosta State's Christian Wedel (6-4,6-2) who's ranked 29th nationally, and Wayne State's (Mich.) Denali Kitayama (6-1, 7-5).
