Maddela had a solid collegiate debut posting a .364 batting average with a 1.045 OPS to help Shorter sweep a three-game series from Miles in the opening weekend of the season. The rookie first baseman was 4-for-11 at the plate, scored once and drove in four more, while drawing a pair of walks. His standout performance of the series was the season opener which saw the Hawaiian native go 2-for-3 (.400) at the plate with a triple and three RBI.
