VanZant broke an Alabama Huntsville record and set a new GSC season high as the sophomore finished first-overall in the heptathlon with 4515 points. Of the seven events, VanZant placed first in four; 100-meter hurdles (15.11), 200-meter dash (25.37), 800-meter run (2:37.88) and javelin throw (37.68m). She also finished second in the heptathlon long jump (5.04m), fourth in the shot put (9.56m) and fifth in the high jump (1.43m).
