Nelson claimed her ninth individual title in her collegiate career while helping the Falcons claim their division championship Sept. 16 at the season-opening Falcon Classic. The Falcons finished ahead of fellow Gulf South Conference schools West Florida, Valdosta State and Auburn Montgomery within their division at the event. Nelson paced all Non-Division I runners with her time of 22:49.43. Nelson placed fourth overall in the field when including Division I runners.
