Caitlyn Calhoun (Sr.; Hamilton, Ohio) was named the Gulf South Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday. It is her sixth honor of the season and 14
th of her career. She also received the honor Feb. 16, Feb. 23, March 1, March 22 and April 4.
Calhoun (26-4) closed the regular season with two more wins and three appearances to lead Valdosta State to a three-game sweep at Delta State and a second-place finish in the GSC standings. Calhoun posted a 1.43 ERA in three appearances, 14.2 innings. She walked three and struck out seven in a five-hit shutout to win Game 1 of the series. It was her 13
th shutout of the season. She struck out two in 2/3 of an inning work in Game 2, and then pitched another complete game win Sunday, allowing three runs on four walks and five hits. She struck out five. She held the Lady Statesmen to a .185 batting average.
