Shorter pitcher
Payton Lippert (Fr.; Meridian, Miss.) was named the Gulf South Conference Softball Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week on Tuesday.
Lippert pitched a nine-inning, 1-0, shutout Sunday to give Shorter a 2-1 series win over No. 21 West Florida. She allowed six hits and walked three in the win, but struck out five. She was the losing pitcher of record in a 6-3 Game 1 loss Saturday, but only allowed one earned run, giving her a 0.47 ERA for the weekend.
