West Florida pitcher
Kalyn Chapman (Sr.; Boonville, Ind.) was named the Gulf South Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday. She also received the honor March 1.
Chapman (18-5) collected two wins in a three-game sweep of No. 21 Delta State over the weekend. She held opponents to a .171 batting average, while producing a 0.59 ERA. She allowed five hits and struck out two in a five-inning, 9-0 shutout in Game 1 of the series, and then allowed only one run off two hits and two walks, while striking out six in a complete-game, 6-1 win in Game 3. Chapman has won 11 straight games in the circle since March 19 after a 7-5 start to the season. Chapman’s 18 wins leads UWF and is fifth among GSC pitchers. She is also fifth for innings pitched (132.1) and opposing batting average (.203). She is ranked third in the conference for shutouts (4) and strikeouts (143).
