West Florida outfielder
Rachel Wright (Fr.; Cantonment, Fla.) was named the Gulf South Conference Softball Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week on Tuesday. Wright was also named Freshman of the Week on March 29.
Wright hit .556 in a three-game sweep against No. 21 Delta State University to help West Florida extend its win streak to 15 games and take over second place in the Gulf South Conference. She drove in five runs and scored five times, including two home runs during the weekend series. It was her second and third home runs of the season. She hit 2-for-2 with five RBI on the first day and capped the weekend with a 3-for-4 day and two runs scored. She had 11 total bases for a .600 on base percentage and 1.222 slugging percentage. For the season, Wright is second on the team with 12 doubles, 19 walks, 72 total bases.
