Shorter midfielder
Alex Abbey (Jr.; Suwanee, Ga.) was named the Gulf South Conference Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Abbey led Shorter’s defense in an 11-4 win over Lees-McRae on Saturday. She had five ground balls, four draw controls and caused four turnovers to help the Hawks hold Lees-McRae to 12 shots on goal. She is now tied with teammate Kari Chambers with a GSC-best 2.08 caused turnovers per game, and her 38 ground balls are the fifth-most in the GSC.
