Raven Cole (Jr.; Orange, Texas) was named the Gulf South Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday.
Cole (21-1) tossed a no-hitter in her first appearance of the week, striking out eight and allowing three walks in a six-inning, 8-0 shutout of Mississippi College in Game 2 of a doubleheader Saturday. On Sunday, she held the Choctaws to one earned run, two total, in a 6-2 complete-game win. She struck out five to help the Lions complete the three-game sweep. She held opponents to .149 hitting in the two games. Cole is the third UNA pitcher to toss a no-hitter this season. Cole carried a streak of 15 scoreless innings until Mississippi College scored a run in the third inning of Game 3. Cole is now second in the GSC in wins (21) and one win shy of tying the UNA record for wins in a single-season. She also leads UNA in complete games (15) and strikeouts (132). Her strikeouts looking (39) and .196 opposing batting average are second in the GSC.
