Union first baseman
Haley Barnette (Fr.; Franklin, Tenn.) was named the Gulf South Conference Softball Freshman of the Week on Tuesday.
Barnette led Union during a 2-3 week, hitting .706 (12-of-17). She hit a perfect 7-for-7 last Monday with three RBI and four runs scored in a doubleheader sweep of Lane College. She then hit .500 (5-for-10) against West Florida over the weekend, including three RBI and three runs scored. She homered in both series and added a double in game one against UWF. She had two or more hits and scored a run in four of the five games and drove in a run in three of the five. Barnette leads Union in hitting (.367), total hits (47), home runs (5) and RBI (24).
