Caitlyn Calhoun (Sr.; Hamilton, Ohio) was named the Gulf South Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday. This is Calhoun’s fourth Pitcher of the Week honor of the season and 12th of her career. She also earned the honor Feb. 16, Feb. 23 and March 1.
Calhoun went 3-0 on the week through 19 innings in four appearances. She posted a 1.11 ERA and held opponents to a .205 batting average while striking out 30 during the week, Calhoun tossed her sixth no-hitter of her career Tuesday, tying the GSC record for most no-hitters. She struck out five in the 8-0 win over Florida Southern and was a hit batter shy of a perfect game. In game two of the double header, she pitched two innings of scoreless relief, allowing three hits and striking out one. Over the weekend, Calhoun pitched two more complete games against Union University, including a three-hit shutout, 11-0, on Saturday, and a 6-3 win Sunday, in which she allowed three earned runs off nine hits. She struck out 12 in both starts against Union. Calhoun (15-4) is third in the GSC for wins and second in the conference with a 1.46 ERA. She leads the GSC in innings pitched (134), complete games (20), shutouts (10) and strikeouts (137).
