Tyler Harrison (Jr.; Mobile, Ala.) was named the Gulf South Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday. This is Harrison's first weekly honor of the season and second in her career, also earning the award on April 14, 2015.
Harrison (15-2) went 3-0 through three starts and complete games during the week, including a pair of wins over West Florida in GSC action. She pitched a shutout in a mid-week win over Tuskegee and then tossed another shutout Saturday. During her 19 innings of work, she held opposing batters to a .203 average, allowing two earned runs in her third outing for a 0.74 ERA. Her only walks, three, came in the third game of the week. She struck out 14, including six through five innings against Tuskegee and six in the shutout win over UWF. She now has 13 complete games and five shutouts this season. She broke the 100 strikeout threshold against Tuskegee to become the first UAH pitcher to strike out 100 since Whitney Gilbert struck out 122 in 2012. Harrison has fanned a GSC-best 112 so far this season. She now leads the GSC in wins (15) and ERA (1.27(, while her .191 opposing batting average is second in the GSC.
