Valdosta State pitcher
Caitlyn Calhoun (Sr.; Hamilton, Ohio) was named the Gulf South Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday. This is Calhoun’s third honor of the season and 11th of her career. She also earned the honor Feb. 16 and Feb. 23.
Calhoun (11-3 ) led Valdosta State with two complete game wins over the weekend. After allowing four hits and a home run Saturday as her only allowed run during the week, she followed with a three-hit shutout Sunday. She posted a 0.50 ERA in the 14 innings of work and struck out 11. She allowed a double and a home run among her seven hits, holding opponents to a .152 batting average.
