Alabama Huntsville catcher Taylor Wascavage (Fr.; Hartselle, Ala.) was named the Gulf South Conference Softball Freshman of the Week on Tuesday.  

Wascavage hit .636 (7-of-11), while driving in four runs and scoring eight. She doubled twice and homered during Saturday’s double header wins over Christian Brothers, helping her to a 1.133 slugging percentage. She had a pair of two-hit games and one three-hit game during the weekend. She also had four stolen bases.
