High School McAdory West Alabama guard Sydney King (McCalla, Ala.) is the GSC Freshman of the Week for the first time this season, becoming the eighth student-athlete to earn the honor. King crashed the glass in her season finale against West Georgia to collect a career-high 13 rebounds, including six on the offensive boards. She added nine points on 3-of-7 shooting from the field and 3-of-4 free throws. She also had two assists and a steal. King was the leading freshman rebounder in the GSC with 5.0 rebounds per game, good for 20th in the league. West Alabama concluded its season Feb. 25 with a 9-17 record, 6-16 in the GSC.
