Devin Schmidt (Sevierville, Tenn.) earns his third-straight GSC Men's Basketball Player of the Week honor and fifth of the season. He also earned the honor on Nov. 24, Jan. 12, Feb. 9 and Feb. 16.
- Schmidt helped the Statesmen to a 2-0 week, averaging 31 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game.
- During his three-week run as GSC Player of the Week, Schmidt has averaged 29.3 points per game, including scoring performances of 37, 34 and 35 points.
- He scored 27 points in 28 minutes played Thursday in a win against Shorter. Schmidt connected on 69 percent of his shots, including 4-of-7 3-point shots. He added four assists, three rebounds and a blocked shot.
- On Saturday, Schmidt recorded his ninth 30-point game of the season, scoring 35 against Lee University. He shot 42 percent (11-of-26) from the field and was 10-of-12 from the free throw line, while dishing out two assists and collecting five rebounds and four steals.
- Schmidt now has 1,795 career points, five points shy of Delta State's all-time scoring record.
- DSU (18-9, 13-8 GSC) is currently in a three-way tie for third-place in the GSC standings. The Statesmen will close the regular season Thursday night with a trip to Mississippi College for a 7:30 p.m. CT tipoff.
