Valdosta State pitcher
Caitlyn Calhoun (Sr.; Hamilton, Ohio) was named the Gulf South Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday.
Calhoun went 1-1 on the week for sixth-ranked Valdosta State on the road at North Alabama. The senior lost a 1-0 pitcher’s duel in game one of the series, allowing one run on five hits, but bounced back for a complete game win Saturday in game three, also allowing just one run on five hits. She did not walk a batter in her two complete game outings and struck out six. She posted a 1.38 earned run average in her 13 innings of work, while holding opponents to a .208 batting average.
