Devin Schmidt (Severville, Tenn.) earns his second-straight GSC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honor and fourth of the season. He also earned the honor on Nov. 24, Jan. 12 and Feb. 9.
- While DSU dropped a pair of games against two of the top three teams in the GSC, Schmidt averaged 31.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.5 steals and 0.5 blocks per game during the week.
- He scored 29 against GSC regular season champion Alabama Huntsville on Thursday, while adding five rebounds, five assists and a steal.
- On Saturday, Schmidt was the only player on either team to score more than 20 points, dropping 34 points in an overtime loss to North Alabama for his eighth 30-point game of the season. He and added nine rebounds and three assists.
- Schmidt now has 1,733 career points, 67 points shy of Delta State’s all-time scoring record.
- DSU (16-9, 11-8 GSC) is currently in a three-way tie for fourth-place in the GSC standings. The Statesmen will host Shorter and Lee this week.
