Devin Schmidt (Severville, Tenn.) earns his third GSC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honor. He first earned the honor on Nov. 24 and Jan. 12.
- Schmidt averaged 25.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game during his record-breaking week.
- He chipped in 14 points and seven assists in a 74-48 win over West Florida on Thursday.
- On Saturday, Schmidt scored a career-high 37 points and added eight rebounds and four assists to ignite a DSU come-from-behind win over Valdosta State, 72-67. He scored 11of his 22 second-half points during a 19-3 run for DSU to take a 65-57 lead with 2:23 to play.
- Schmidt went 5-of-13 from 3-point range against Valdosta State to break the DSU record for 3-pointers made (196) and attempted (493). The previous record was held by DSU Hall of Famer Twentis Magee (1995-98).
- DSU (16-7, 11-6 GSC) is currently in a four-way tie for second-place in the GSC standings, three games behind Alabama Huntsville. The Statesmen will travel to UAH and North Alabama this week.
