Savannah Smith (Sr.; Guin, Ala.) was named the Gulf South Conference Softball Player of the Week on Feb. 2.
Smith hit 7-for-11 (.636) in four games to lead UAH to a 3-1 weekend at the Peach Belt Conference/Gulf South Conference Southern Showdown in Columbus, Ga. The senior’s best game was in the season opener, going 4-or-5 with a double, two home runs, seven RBIs and three runs scored. She hit 3-for-6 the rest of the weekend with five runs scored, four RBI, four walks and a home run. UAH (3-1) will play six games in Orange Beach, Ala., this weekend.
