- Shorter guard Phil Taylor (Brooklyn, N.Y.) earns his second GSC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honor. He first earned the honor on Nov. 17.
- Taylor averaged 33 points, eight rebounds and 3.5 assists in a pair of road wins last week.
- He scored 38 points and added our assists in Thursday’s win at Valdosta State. He was a perfect 14-of-14 from the free throw line, in addition to shooting 11-of-16 from the floor.
- On Saturday, Taylor added 28 points and 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. He also had three assists in the double-overtime win at West Florida.
- Taylor has made 186 free throws this season, second in NCAA Division II, and is 13 shy of the GSC single-season record.
- Shorter (11-10, 6-9 GSC) will host North Alabama on Thursday at 8 p.m. ET, followed by Alabama Huntsville on Saturday at 4 p.m. ET.
