Aaliyah Cheatham (Perry, Ga.) earns her GSC Freshman of the Week honor.
- Cheatham averaged 15 points, 3.5 assists, three rebounds and one steal last week to help Valdosta State to a 2-0 week to move to seventh place in the conference standings.
- On Saturday, Cheatham hit 4-of-8 shots in the first half, including a pair of 3s to fuel VSU’s first half surge to a 34-19 halftime lead over West Florida. She scored 18 points in the game and dished out three assists to help the Blazers end the Argos’ seven-game win streak.
- She shot 40.7 percent (11-of-27) for the week after a 50 percent performance (7-of-14) against West Florida.
- Last Monday, Cheatham scored 12 points, grabbed four rebounds and had four assists in a 69-46 home win over West Alabama.
- VSU (9-7, 5-6 GSC) will travel to Alabama Huntsville for a 6:30 p.m. CT start on Thursday and North Alabama on Saturday.
