West Alabama middle blocker Taylin McCarver (Fr.; Alabaster, Ala.) was named the Gulf South Conference Volleyball Freshman of the Week on Tuesday.
 
McCarver had 16 kills, 14 blocks and seven digs over three matches last week. Of her blocks total, 10 were solo. Over all three matches, she also turned in a .314 hitting percentage.
