University of West Georgia's Samuel Jones is the Gulf South Conference Men's Golf Freshman of the Month for September.
Jones is UWG’s second all-time freshman winner after starting his career with a pair of Top 25 finishes, while recording a five round stroke average of 72.40. The Hawera, Taranaki, New Zealand native began the year with a pair of +3, 73 rounds enroute to a 23rd finish at the Full Moon Invitational in Calera, Ala. Jones saved his best for last at the Cougar Invitational in Columbus, Ga., finishing 21st via a 216 three-round total (+3). He capped the event with his top effort, shooting a –2, 69 in the final round.
