North Alabama quarterback Luke Wingo is UNA’s first winner of the season and he collects his second overall honor after leading the Lions’ offense to a 55-48 win in Saturday’s GSC-TV contest. The senior completed 24-of-39 passes for 398 yards and two touchdowns and he also ran for 64 yards and two more scores on 15 carries. The game was tied at 34-34 in the third quarter, but Wingo led back-to-back scoring drives of 67 and 52 yards capped by TD runs of 16 yards and one yard. The Tuscaloosa, Ala. native became just the third quarterback in UNA history to go over the 1,000-yard career rushing mark.
