Valdosta State outfielder
Kevin Cruz (Sr.; Tampa, Fla.) was named the Gulf South Conference Baseball Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Cruz led Valdosta State at the plate and helped the Blazers to a sweep of then No. 9 West Florida last weekend. The senior went 8-14 (.571) from the plate and knocked three homeruns, including two in the opener, with a double, seven RBI and three runs. He also sported a .588 on-base percentage and a 1.286 slugging percentage over the week, which also included a non-conference game versus Columbus State.
