Alabama Huntsville first basemen Trey Mathis (So.; Trinity, Ala.) was named the Gulf South Conference Baseball Player of the Week on Tuesday.
 
Mathis opened the 2015 campaign 8-for-11 (.727 batting average) including two homers and two doubles in the weekend series against Maryville. He also drove in six runs while scoring six runs of his own.
