#1 Trevecca Nazarene def. #5 Lee, 1-0 (OT) | Box Score
Top-seeded Trevecca Nazarene used a golden goal nearly five minutes into overtime to advance to its first Gulf South Conference Men’s Soccer Championship final, which also marked the first semifinal match in the tournament to be decided in overtime since 2019. The overtime win also marked the first for the Trojans in postseason history and extended the program’s win streak to eight. Level 0-0 at the half, Trevecca Nazarene held a narrow 5-4 advantage in shots. During the second half, both teams seemed to ramp up the offense as both sides finished the half with eight shots. Second Team All-GSC forward Judah Jones forced a crucial turnover four minutes into overtime as the cross into the box found the foot of Offensive Player of the Year Chris Douglas for his seventh game-winner this season and his nation-leading nineteenth goal overall. The golden goal was the first-ever for the Trojans in a postseason game and marked the third goal scored by Douglas this tournament.
#6 West Alabama def. #2 AUM, 2-0 | Box Score
Sixth-seeded West Alabama scored a goal in each half to advance to the Gulf South Conference Men’s Soccer championship final, 2-0, for the first time since 2017 where they won the title. Thirteen minutes into the match, Freshman of the Year Florian Laot finished a cross from David Nunez to give the Tigers a 1-0 advantage. Despite tallying eight shots in the first half, AUM placed one on frame as West Alabama led 1-0 at the break. As in the first semifinal, both teams ramped up offensive efforts in the second half with 16 total shots. Five minutes before the final whistle, West Alabama’s Aidan Riley secured a 2-0 lead for the Tigers off the cross from Luke Jovanovich. The win from West Alabama marks the first time a No. 6 seed has advanced to the final since 2015 and the third time a No. 6 or No. 7 seed has reached the final.
