BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama Huntsville guard Tommy Murr (player) and Montevallo guard Carter Wesson (freshman) were each recognized with GSC men’s basketball weekly awards following the third week of the 2024-25 season.
Player of the Week:
Tommy Murr, Sr., G, Alabama Huntsville
Murr secured his second GSC Player of the Week award this season following a week where he averaged 25.0 points per game, 6.0 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and shot over 50 percent from the field. In a 76-62 win over McKendree, the senior led the scoring for the Chargers with 27 points while also dishing out six assists, grabbing six boards, and making three of his five attempts from behind the arc. This was then followed by a showing where the Athens, Ala. native put up 23 points on 57 percent shooting, dished out six more assists, and secured a rebound in a 74-63 victory over Missouri-St. Louis.

Freshman of the Week:
Carter Wesson, Fr., G, Montevallo
Wesson collected his first-career GSC Freshman of the week honor after dropping a career-high in points against Carolina Christian. The freshman averaged 7.3 points per game on 54.5 percent shooting and also had a rebound, an assist, and a steal. In an increased role against Carolina Christian, the Charlottesville, Va. native put up a career-high 18 points on 63 percent shooting, including hitting four of his seven three-point shots. He also secured two defensive boards and recorded a steal to help the Falcons to an 86-42 win.
