GSC Announces 2018 Women's Tennis All-Conference Awards

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Gulf South Conference has announced the 2018 women’s tennis all-conference awards, as voted on by the league’s coaches. West Florida’s
Paula Coyos has been named GSC Player of the year.
Ines Nicault has been named GSC Freshman of the year for the Argos, while Mississippi College’s David Boteler and West Florida’s Derrick Racine are named GSC Co-Coaches of the Year.
This is the second year Coyos has claimed the league’s top all-conference award. The senior from Tucuman, Argentina, is currently ranked the No. 16 singles player in the country with and impressive 15-5 No. 1 singles record. Four of her five losses came from teams ranked 14 or higher in the country. She ranks second in the conference in No. 1 singles and third in the league in No. 1 doubles. Coyos ranks No. 8 in the country in doubles with with partner
Jordana Lujan, boasting a No. 1 doubles record of 18-4.
Nicault receives GSC Freshman of the Year accolades after finishing the season 15-3 at No. 2 singles and 8-4 at No. 2 doubles. She helped the Argos to a ITA No. 3 ranking in the nation, currently ranked No. 57 in the country in singles competition. Two of her three singles losses came from top ranked opponents. She finished the season with the best record in the conference at No. 2 singles.
Racine and Boteler share the GSC Coach of the Honor this year. This is Boteler’s first time receiving this honor, leading the Choctaws to a 18-1 overall record and a 11-1 GSC record to complete the season. Mississippi College is also currently ranked No. 26 in the nation by the ITA. Racine has received this award a total of 14 times now during his time at West Florida. This is the eighth straight year that he has won the award. The Argos currently rank No. 3 in the nation with an overall record of 23-3 and a conference record of 11-0.
